I thought since Vans has a custom shoe order website, and the addition of the 106 now, I feel that we should have a thread to post up some of our creations.

'The Vans 106 has been one of their best sellers since they decided to bring it back a few years ago' - hey Guam, what do you mean 'bring it back'? Isn't it a completely new shoe?

Not 100% sure if it's an original style, but it has been out for what...2 years now? I've updated my info on the blog as well. Most Vans numbered models, were from their original line, back before they had names. I couldn't find any info to verify if it was an original lineup model, or not, so until then, I'll just leave it the way I did.

I read that as well, on the Vans site, but it didn't really say much. I wonder why Vans would give it a 106 label, instead of a name? They don't ever do that for any new releases.

Maybe they run out of ideas OTW collection is not numbers, but names tho. I'm sure that 106 is not a retro, I've been watching vintage Vans listings for months now and there were no 106', they're also not listed in the Vintage section of vanscollector.com.

my friend and i were talking about it too, because technically 106 looks closer like chukka than chukka low. our theory was that 106 is accidentally invented, some workers forgot to put padding on the tongue and there was a big batch of them, so vans kinda had to called it something and sell it.

Hehe, that works for me. This model should've been called the Chukka Low, and the padded version called the 106, since it's further away from a Chukka, but whatever.
