stage 4 "waffle cup"

Post by Tampawafflehead »

so I saw the video for these here and was kinda curious to see how they managed to do this and what was up with them. grabbed these the other day from SPoT and honestly i was pretty skeptical about em, usually new "tech" is just gimmicks to me, nothing new or worth it. but i inspected em and decided to spend the 50$ and try em out. iam actually really impressed so far. but more than anything curious as how the hell they did this... it really is a vulc sole and toe bumper with a cup sole outter? i figured they just glued a waffle sole on but its not the case its all one mold except the toe bumper is glued on like usual. they have the EVA foam removable insert, not my fav but deff better than the generic glued in ones. I do skate and plan on skating these after they break in. the only thing about the idea of a waffle cup thats not making much sense, they talk about how it will help with heel bruise and impacts... it still has the vulc sole... thats the whole thing i deff prefer a vulc sole, iam not into hucking my self down sets anymore lol and id rather have the board feel anyways, just saying the thats the main trade off. cup soles will prtoect but u cant feel the board and vulcs give the feel but not a lot of protection. being that the sidewalls not the sole is cup, how is that any different in that regard? i do think they will hold up better than a standard vulc sole in the fact that i wear through the sidewalls well before i wear the sole down tho. look at me going on and on again! haha anyways this tech really seems cool and different than the usual gimmicks companies throw out, ill let u guys know how they hold up to the real test when i get on em.

This will be an awesome blog feature. An actual wear-test on the new Waffle Cup technology. We'll see if it it's just a gimmick!

I have given these to a lot of people to test out, and everyone loves them. The first day they are a little stiff, but after that they break in and feel like a vulc shoe. The upper last for a really long time and are worth the investment for anyone that is really going to skate them.

Interesting! I'm excited to see how this goes. I wanna pick up a pair to see how they are (even though I don't really skate, I'm interested to see how they feel). Not a huge fan of the low color ways right now, though, so I'm waiting til the high's start going on sale...

Update as of a week of wears. Deff like music said, stiff like a cup sole the first days, and now they feel just like a normal vulc. No games no gimics still haven't skated them but I dot skate shoes until they are nice and broken in. really stoked on em tho, and know they will skate well. They have the features I look for in a solid sk8 shoe, first and foremost a long on extended toe cap without stictiching or blocking to get ripped and cause the whole shoe to blow out. 2nd they aren't too bulky or padded to where I can't feel whats going on with my feet or board. 3rd.... They look cool:)

Now I'm interested for sure. I can't wait to see the wear test. I always wear the waffle down flat when I skate my shoes, and I don't used them for braking. So I'd like to see how the grip lasts. That should deffinitely be where the cupsole features come in.
Tampa, shred em for the Fam!
Looking to buy:
