The SAL 23's where what changed my mind. They were the first pair I wore that wasn't as bulky and that's when I started slimming them down.
The skateshop that I worked at occasionally in the early 2000's had a DC account and we used to do massive orders and the owners would let uis get anything we wanted at cost...as long as we had enough of our friends rolling in buying. I've still got a buddy who has boxes of untouched shoes from the same time period at his place. I'll have to ask him what he's got.
Word up...if he can find some Carroll's let me know!!!
I had the black/grey/green Cozmo's, those were my favorite. My mom used to take me to the DC sales in Carlsbad, this was before Quiksilver bought them. Those sales were the best, and the more you bought, the cheaper things got. I got a few pairs of those Rick Howard 1's that day too. It just sucked because so many kids would be wearing the same shoes and same Droors shirts/sweatshirts. I would just skate in all of that gear, and wear my 'eS Kostons to school. The Rick Howard 1's would be a good shoe to skate in to this day, but for shoes like the Embarko, the sole was so stiff.
